Refractive surgery
All forms of vision correction surgery, or refractive surgery, change the natural structure of the eye to alter the eye's focusing power.
While in the past, changing the focusing power of the eye could only be accomplished with glasses or contact lenses, these surgical techniques have allowed for a permanent change in the eye, often resulting in the elimination of the need for glasses or contacts.
The field of vision correction surgery is still rapidly changing, with new techniques and new applications for this surgery expected in the near future.
